For this SEO review, I am going to use the keyword term Tampa airport parking and the example site of Payless Parking. The search landscape for this term is not highly competitive but is hampered by the deadly 7 local listings. Now e
ven though Payless Parking does have a local listing, it has a big disadvantage as the reviews from their past clients are very low and this hurts the site from getting many clicks. The goal here is to get their web page higher on the top of the rankings BEFORE the local listings.
On Page Usage – Tampa Airport Parking
Overall Payless Parking does a nice job with using the example term in the core on page areas of the webpage. Let’s look at some of these key on page areas and see how well they are optimized and what we can do to make them better:
- Keyword usage – I think this can be done much better. There are many other related terms to our example term that can be use to receive traffic from. Take a look at the Google Wonder Wheel for the term Tampa airport parking and see for yourself what other terms the site should include.
- The current title for the Payless Parking page is – “Payless Parking – Tampa Airport Parking – TPA”. You have no idea how many times I see this happen to titles of web pages! Having your brand name in the title is strike one but to have it as the first words that are in the title is strike two and three! You have such a limited amount of characters in the title and to waste them (yes, waste I said!) on your brand name is shame!
- The exact term is also not present throughout the body copy of the ranking page. I would like to see the term Tampa airport parking at least five times throughout the copy.
- There are a few images within the web page and the ALT tags are not optimized nor is the image name. Again, it takes just a few seconds to do this and drive some significant traffic from the image search engines for the term Tampa airport parking.
- Emphasis on the term Tampa airport parking is not present. Search engines do give a web page a boost by doing this for your top terms.
- The use of the keyword tag is being used. This tag has been discontinued by the search engines and to even use it might have a disadvantage. Better to not use it just for some good search engine CYA.
Tampa SEO Tweaks For Payless Parking Web Page
So moving forward on the Tampa search engine optimization tweaks for this I would do the following:
- The title needs to be changed – I suggest “Tampa Airport Parking – Long or Short Term Parking To TPA”. Really no need to have the brand name in the title as anybody who searches for that brand term is going to get the site.
- I would add the term a few more times in the body copy and using bolding to help it stand out.
- Images need to be name the main keywords and ALT text needs to include the keywords as well.
- Kill the keyword tag.
Given the fact of poor reviews from the local section it is important to move the web site above the local listings. This is not an easy task as you need to be able to take one of the top 3 spots in order to accomplish this. I think with the suggestions we have outlined we have given the example site a good opportunity to do just that.
Final SEO Grade
I would give our example site at solid B+ for its SEO final grade. This would be something that any web site owner would love to have in terms of a site that is ranking well and really does a nice job with getting visitors to use the quick search feature. The big challenge is to get placed higher than the local listing so that the 2 star rating does not hurt them as much. Of course fixing that rating will also pay big dividends as well.
Thanks for the tips!!
