This is a keyword phrase that is used quite a lot and obtaining a top 10 organic placement will produce very targeted traffic and sales. Drake Law is holding its own in the positioning with a top 20 placement and actually has done a great job of being listed in Google local and is one of the Birmingham, Alabama personal injury law firms that has reviews. This has given Drake a leg up in terms of getting the majority of clicks from the local section. The goal would be to get their site listed in the top 10 so they can really gain the benefits from “double dipping”.

Overall I give Drake Law a “C” here. It does include the phrase in the description, and H1 tag but really could optimize a lot more by offering the term in other size headings, more times in the overall copy, in alt tags of images and have the term bolded within the body copy. As you can see from the screen shot to the right, the copy tries to do to much. Now this is the home page so that does play a part but I would still target our main term more. Moving forward, I would do the following SEO tweaks to the site:
- At least having the term Birmingham personal injury lawyer is the body copy at least 4 times.
- Would look at building out local pages – As you can see from the screen shot on the right, the use of the keywords based on surrounding cities and counties seems spammy but by creating pages it will help that and give more saturation in the search engines. This will also give those pages the keywords in the URL which is a very powerful tactic for attorney SEO placement.
- Title length is a little long. Search engines are going to index around 70 characters and this web site is longer than that thus the engines will not read it all.
- Removal of the keyword tag – basically this tag has become obsolete.
- Link building – The site has around 650 links from 15 domains pointing to it. The top sites have an average of 30,000 links from 250 domains. Having a good and healthy link profile is essential to receiving good positioning in the search engines.
